When we first heard about the initial Haig Club being released with David Beckham we had a discussion at MoM Towers about what the price point would be. When it was eventually announced, however, it was quite a bit higher than the whiskies we'd previously assumed they'd be competing with. That's where Haig Club Clubman comes in, which will be the more "mainstream" variant.
The Clubman, a single grain Scotch whisky distilled at Cameronbridge and matured in ex-bourbon casks, is designed to be enjoyed with cola.
Inoffensive vanilla, nougat and caramel notes. With Beckham behind it, we can see plenty of vodka coke drinkers making the switch to Clubman and not looking back.

I bought this out of curiosity and only then read the reviews. With these in mind I had my first taste. It just does not taste of anything much, and that not very nice. Noting the approval of those who go in for mixers I added dry ginger; no better. If the idea is to market something light, fresh etc for new whisky drinkers then give them something which tastes of whisky as the rest of the world knows it. And why the price when it must be far cheaper to get on the market than a blend?
Can't call this whisky ... No more! avoid!
I know most say whisky shouldnt be mixed but when your out and you want something refreshing, this and cola is excellent. Actually nice on its own. It isnt complicated but it does simple really well. Vanilla, coconut and custard stand out for me.
This is my cheap go too for drinking neat. Love the vanilla caramel type flavour. Not tried it with coke though.
Some people have their head well and truly in the sand. This is a single grain whisky, made at a relatively low price point. Yes, it is blending fodder, but I got notes of vanilla, custard, coconut. It isn’t the best whisky, but by far not the worst. I’ve had worse single malts. This has been made as a mixer whisky, and goes well with coke. On its own, it’s not too bad, but wouldn’t be my first choice. Still, a nice, smooth and very sweet easy sipper. Ignore the whisky snobs. It isn’t as poor as they would suggest.
