Green Isle
Green Isle is a multi-award-winning smoky blended Scotch whisky featuring a core of Islay malt, alongside Speyside malt and Lowland grain whiskies chosen to complement the aforementioned Islay spirit. An approachable, beautifully balanced blend, boasting smoky depth as well as light fruit and fragrant spice. From the makers of The Character of Islay Whisky Company, this expression takes its name from early descriptions of Islay, as well as from the title of novelist Neil Gunn's book The Green Isle of the Great Deep, which talks of an island off the west coast of Scotland only accessible via a whirlpool. That sound familiar to you...?
Softly toasted barley, warming oak, honey glazed apples and cut grass.
Vanilla pod earthiness builds on the palate, paired with coastal peat, pear drops and crushed peppercorns.
Lingering wafts of dry smoke and buttery biscuits.

The nose is wonderful, the taste more tempered which leads to an initial disappointment but when the brain kicks in and starts considering the flavours it is well balanced with an emphasis on smokey and should appeal to a wide market
Nose: a true peaty whisky on the nose, wonderfully round. Absolutely lovely nose. Palate: too fresh, green grass/hay far too much licorice/fennel and not enough earthy for my taste. Finish: as if I was in the barn when the newly dried hay arrives for storage. Note: please note I am not a fan of fennel in my whisky. Fennel thinly sliced, raw with sea salt and hazelnut oil, I adore it.
A good blend to get in to smokey whiskey Which I'm still trying to do try this before lagavulin.
Bought this after reading a review on The Dramble and it’s absolutely excellent. Big, balanced, outdoorsy islay-tinged blend. Peerless at the pricepoint and a new regular on my whisky shelf.
Very gently earthy peat smoke as on the nose, bit of berries, apple and black pepper. Hints of cereals and malts as well, the sea breeze from the nose blows less strong in here yet a pinch of saltiness remains. Perfect dram to start a maritime/peat evening, extremely accessible and a tad sweet with a growing fruit basket that seems to get silkier by the sip. Well satisfying, enjoyable, accessible and ever with a good Islay character representation as the company’s name claims. Well worth the money, bang for buck!
