Bourbon
Ruadh Maor is the name that Glenturret gives its batches of peated single malt, and the folks at independent bottler Brave New Spirits got their hands on a cask of it for The Yellow Edition series. Distilled in 2011, the whisky spent 11 years in a single bourbon cask that yielded a total of 291 cask strength bottles when it was opened in 2022.
Meaty smoke and oak char lead, with cinnamon and nutmeg tagging behind.
Plenty of peat smoke, with notes of milk chocolate and vanilla fudge beneath, backed by charred peppercorns.
The pepper lingers for the finish, with smouldering embers and burnt caramel.
