Wine Cask
From indie bottler Na Bràithrean comes this glorious single malt from Glentauchers. After selecting a single ex-bourbon cask distilled in 2009, the team at Na Bràithrean divided the whisky into two, enabling them to explore a different maturation pathway for each – these sibling casks came from the same origin, but have grown up to display different characteristics! Here we have the Big Brother expression, matured for a total of 12 years including a one year finishing period in a Muscat wine cask, and bottled in 2021. Only 127 bottles of this marvellous stuff were released.
Heaps of fruit welcome the way with honeyed figs, juicy raisins, berries. Sweet toffee and a touch of orange peel are followed by sweet syrup and cakey spice.
Floral blossom and sweet red berries tangle with more orangey zest, tangy oak, roasted nuts and toasted malt.
Cherries creep in with sweet vanilla shortbread, sharp citrus with juicy stone fruits, and more malty oak spice.
