Single Malt
Scotland

An independent bottling of what looks to be a rather well-Sherried Glenrothes single malt Scotch whisky. It was distilled in 1990 and set aside to mature in Sherry butt casks until 2015, when it was bottled by the chaps at WM Cadenhead. A release of 966 bottles.

I had the luck of picking up one of the last bottles of this at Cadenhead's Edinburgh store. I took a chance on it since they didn't have a sample available. Turned out to be no risk at all. This is quite simply the finest heavily sherried whisky I've had the pleasure to enjoy. It's quite drinkable at full strength, with only a faint alcohol burn on the finish but it also takes water quite nicely and doesn't "thin out" the mouth feel very much. The finish simply goes on forever, you'll find yourself still tasting sherry hours afterwards. If you like sherry monsters you owe it to yourself to pick up a bottle of this if you ever come across it.
