Single cask single malt from the Glenrothes Distillery, independently bottled up by Douglas Laing as part of the excellent Old Particular range. This one was distilled in June 1998 and aged in a refill barrel for 21 years, before being bottled in May 2020 at 51.5% ABV. Just 199 bottles were produced.
Victoria sponge with raspberry jam and fresh cream, balanced by richly malty notes and a hint of peppercorn.
Honeyed orchard fruit, waxy peels, subtly drying hints of dark chocolate later on.
Cask spices and tropical fruit.

I don’t usually enjoy Glenrothes whisky. Find it far too smooth, sweet and frankly boring. This in the other hand is exciting, full of fruit spices, a hint of vanilla with a long complex finish of pineapple and cinnamon. Yes.
