Glenmorangie's Quinta Ruban 12 Year Old is a fantastic Port cask finished expression, and now the distillery has developed upon the recipe with The Quinta Ruban 14 Year Old! The whisky is initially matured in bourbon casks before being moved over to ruby Port casks, imparting waves of scrumptious fruit and chocolate notes to the spirit. Superb as a postprandial dram.
Summer fruit tart with a sprinkling of icing sugar, aromatic cedar, milky coffee and almond pastries.
Chocolate mousse, Bourbon biscuits, orange oil, more almond notes (now toasted), blackcurrant and raisin.
Lasting richness of stewed berries and dark chocolate.

If you're trying to replace the 12, as I was, this will not do the job. The complexity and most importantly the finish are just not comparable. That said, it's a fair whisky in its own right, it's pleasant on the palate, with the port finish giving it a distinct taste. Its finish isn't remarkable, the flavour disappears quickly. Will evolve considerably upon opening, so if you don't like it at first leave it a few weeks before going back to it.
Love this, but really enjoyed the 12, should bring it back, choice is good
A friend recommended it, I thank him. It was excellent. I paired it with a nice cigar and enjoyed an end of day chill time on the porch overlooking acres of open fields with a star filled sky. Nice end to the day!
I usually drink Islay whiskey, Laphroig and Ardbeg in particular, but this stuff is just awesome. It's a seriously good quality malt, especially for the price, and it's just flat-out delicious. I'll always have a bottle of this stuff on my shelf.
Wouldn’t recommend and certainly won’t purchase again,Glenmorangie was my favorite whiskey back in the eighties.Like many great distillers now owned by large conglomerates.
