    Product details

    Glengoyne Cask Strength

Each batch of Glengoyne's marvellous Cask Strength single malt is matured in a selection of refill, oloroso sherry, and bourbon casks, and bottled at cask strength, without chill filtration. It's brimming with generous layers of cakey spice, nutty malt, honeyed fruit, and oaken vanilla.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Soft stone fruits and baked apples with a dusting of nutmeg are joined by creamy vanilla custard and Malted Milk biscuits.

    Palate

Rounded layers of runny, buttery toffee, and hints of citrus zest open the way for syrupy, fruit-studded flapjack and banana bread.

    Finish

Mellow oak and biscuity barley linger, with juicy stone fruits, tangy citrus, nutmeg, and cinnamon.

“Wasn't a fan of Glengoyne id tried the 10 and the 12 and found them a bit flat and lacking complexity. This however is a 100 megaton nuclear sherry bomb. If you're a fan of aberlour a'bunadh or glenfarlas 105, this blows them both out of the water its that good. Hoping to see more unchillfiltered glengoynes in the future.”

Me team bought me this for Christmas and all I can say is wow, wow, wow! Powerful strength, but balanced amazingly with the hit of sherry essence and hints of biscuits (as described). You will not be disappointed!

Great, but second best in category (so far)

Sherry, almost nutty on the nose. Fruit n spice, more sherry, on the front palate. A note of menthol, almost medicinal at the back. Long, woody, bitter finish. Damn good whisky, but second to the Glenfarclas 105 in my opinion. The Christmas cake flavor profile is not quite so knockout as in the 105, not as much spice and richness.
