Master of Malt exclusive!
Those wonderful folks over at Douglas Laing have bottled up a brilliant whisky exclusively for Master of Malt (that's us, by the way – hello!). This one is a 15 year old Glengoyne single malt, distilled back in August 2005 and set aside to age in a single refill hogshead until April 2021. At that point, it was bottled at cask strength, and with labels that feature the Master of Malt logo (again, that's us – can you tell we're excited about this?!).
Sticky toffee pudding, lemon meringue pie, and a hint of buttered brown bread.
Tangy marmalade, cassia, malted milk biscuits, caramelised nuts, and honey.
A touch of woody spice and nutmeg, while more orange notes linger on the finish.
A beautiful well-constructed dram, with the Glengoyne spirit and refill cask complementing each other well. A pleasure on both the nose and palate. A nice balance of citrus sweetness and tartness, with notes of ginger and milk chocolate emerging at various points. Quite drinkable even at 58% with no water, while also interesting and dynamic. A great choice for a single cask bottling.
