Packaged in a dark bottle with a silver crest and named Caoran for the Gaelic for peat embers. This 12-year-old Glenfiddich is a peaty release from the Speyside distillery.
This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!
Rich, earthy, Seville marmalade. Spicy. Nutty, cereal sweetness, soft smoke.
Quite sweet, full. Barley, honey, fruity. Malt, wood smoke builds.
Smoky, warming, crisp green notes on the tail.
$32.46 - $69.60
One of the best "peaty" whisky's I've ever tasted. Sham it's been discontinued. Any suggestions anybody for a whisky with a similar taste?
I thought this was very good value for the price. Quite a smooth whiskey.
Earthy and smokey on the nose. A really pleasant smell, I was more than happy to just sit and take in the aroma for quite a while before I actually tasted it. The palate is also smokey, I didn't get the sweetness described in the tasting notes above, but some interesting malty, maybe even oaty flavours in with the smoke. The finish is nice and crisp, with "green" being the perfect way to describe it. All in all it is a tasty whisky but it didn't grab my attention maybe as much as it should have. Slightly dissapointed.
