Glenfiddich
Scotland
Single Malt
A 15 year old single malt Scotch from Glenfiddich Distillery, made up of whiskies matured in American bourbon, sherry, and virgin oak. Inspired by the classic sherry-making bodegas of Spain and Portugal, the 15-year-old whiskies are left to mellow and intensify in a solera vat, a large oak vat that hasn't been emptied since 1998.
Sherry, citrus - orange in particular, dry wood. Slight suggestion of smoke?
Medium, Sherry, raisins. Fruitcake, spices, sweetness.
Candied fruits, raisins, spices, Christmas pudding, oak takes over.
£4.87 - £37.90
Cracking malt worthy of the Glenfiddich name
Tastes OK, even pleasant, but it's not Glenfiddich. Never imagined Glenfiddich would go fru-fru.
One of my favourite malts sweet and smooth Impossible to just one tot. ?
Smooth, light and leaves nice warm feeling on the palate. One tot never enough !?
I can taste the fruit, and lots of it, but anyone claiming this is smooth has to be lying to themselves to justify the money they spent on it. There's an absurd amount of burn for how long it has been matured. I coughed, it was not good. It's more like a spiced rum than a Scotch to me, which would be great if I was looking for a very expensive spiced rum, but I wasn't. I've had smoother bottom shelf bottles from the supermarket that cost less than a third of this. To each their own but the 12 is far better in my opinion, and very easy to drink, if not a bit boring.
