    Glenfarclas 12 Year Old

Lots of sherry and fruit in this, Glenfarclas 12 was originally bottled for export and travel retail markets. In 2006, it was named the "Best Sherried Whisky" in the Single Malt World Cup, and in 2007 and 2008 it won Gold at the Stockholm Beer and Whisky Festival.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Light and creamy with a mix of supple, soft sherry and Manuka honey. Gentle and well-balanced, there are hints of smoke, rich oak, and a little pine resin.

    Palate

Medium-bodied, with notes of date and walnut cake, Oloroso sherry and hints of earthy forest floor. A beautiful note of malt, with toffee apple and a touch of smoke.

    Finish

Spicy and long, notes of allspice, cinnamon and cloves, with orange zest and sherry.

    Chuckles

Very smooth prefer it over most single malts

    Very Sweet. Think Cherries

I get all light sherry fruit in this one. Not necessarily dark, dried fruits, but rather cherries. Lots of cherry. Some oakiness. Very smooth. Not getting any smoke though. I don't think it's as thick and Christmas cake-y as the notes here. Lighter and a little fresher sherry fruit

    Very disappointing

I'm a great fan of the 105, so tried this. Sadly, I've got to say this is very disappointing. The taste profile is just fine, but its got a disgusting nose of cheap spirit and sulphur that makes itself felt through the sips. I hope it will go down over the course of the bottle otherwise I've got a real problem getting through this one. Will probably have to make cocktails out of it...oh the horror...

    Excellent scotch, unbeatable price

Fruits, toffee, well balanced sherry, nice oak finish...Perfect every day dram.

    So so ..

I can't seem to dig into this one. Personally, it is overrated but I like the 15 years old - that's what I would classify as a Sherry Bomb. Sorry, for 12 years, Glendronach is still on the top of my list of Sherry B.
