    Age10 Year Old Whisky

    Glenfarclas 10 Year Old

From the renowned Glenfarclas Distillery, this delicate whisky is a wonderful expression of the Speyside style. Matured in 100% Oloroso sherry casks, it offers far more complexity than you’d expect from a 10-year-old dram. A smooth, welcoming whisky that’s become the understated favourite in many a collection. Excellent as an aperitif, and excellent value.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Lots of juicy, sweet, sherry notes combined with malt and barley. Creamy hints of toffee give way to delicate honey, vanilla, and orchard fruits.

    Palate

Delicious sherry sweetness and dried fruits, with complex, delicate winter spices and fruitcake. Light toffee, and a hint of smoke.

    Finish

Long, smooth, spicy and fruity, with a touch of oak.

    Just as I remember

Just finished my litre of 105, which, as ever, I thoroughly enjoyed. I felt, this time, that I should try something lighter from Glenfarclas, something I haven't had for quite a while - so back to the 1oy0. This a is firm, dry-ish dram which opens up with sherry sweetness and nuttiness. Very smooth and very easy drinking - so beware. A sweetness in the finish, which is long and lingering.

    I like it!

Better than I did expect, best 40% sherry I've been tasting. I still prefer cask strength at sherry whiskies.

tastes more complex than a 10yo

If there is such a thing as a session malt, this is it for me - smooth, accessible and avuncular. Lovely flavours of fruitcake and Madeira. Very good value.

    Dry for a Speyside

Quite dry for a Speyside, suprisingly a little rough and smokey. Firm.

    Excellent value

Good choice for the advent calendar. Smells of mince pies and brandy cream. Tastes of caster sugar, cloves, honey, lemon zest, with a spicy/sweet finish. It's a lovely drink for the Christmas season and, although not as complex as the Glenfarclas 15, it is just as pleasant and excellent value for money.
