Glenburgie is an important component in the Ballantine's blend but makes for a fine single malt in its own right. In 2003 the original distillery was knocked down to make way for a modern purpose built facility on the same site, this whisky was of course distilled in the previous distillery buildings.
Nose: Bees wax and fresh stone fruit form a sweet sherried aroma.
Palate: The palate is spicy with delicate red fruits drizzled with melted dark chocolate.
Finish: The finish is rich with red berries and has a lick of menthol on the tail.
Overall: This is a fantastically elegant Glenburgie from Gordon and MacPhail.
