Glenburgie 1966 (Gordon & MacPhail)
Glenburgie is an important component in the Ballantine's blend but makes for a fine single malt in its own right. In 2003 the original distillery was knocked down to make way for a modern purpose built facility on the same site, this whisky was of course distilled in the previous distillery buildings.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Bees wax and fresh stone fruit form a sweet sherried aroma.
Palate
The palate is spicy with delicate red fruits drizzled with melted dark chocolate.
Finish
The finish is rich with red berries and has a lick of menthol on the tail.
Overall
This is a fantastically elegant Glenburgie from Gordon and MacPhail.
