A 2019 addition to the GlenAllachie core range, this 15 year old single malt was treated to a finishing period in sherry casks before bottling. The casks in question were a combination of puncheons and hogsheads that previously held Pedro Ximénez and oloroso sherry. Master distiller Billy Walker described this expression as having an "exceptional balance of the distillery’s spirit and the influence of the sherry casks used during maturation." We'd have to agree. This bottle was produced before the range underwent a redesign in 2024.
Peanut brittle, dates and a big scoop of chocolate ice cream.
Walnut, raisin, Christmas spices and fresh ginger.
Coffee, Turkish delight and just a hint of flaky sea salt.

From the get go, you go wow! This whisky has it all: powerful sherry, long lasting finish, more sherry rolling on your tongue, phenomenal balance, smooth with an after kick, it's like the Glendronach Revival on steroids!
I'm a big fan of the 10yo cask strength glenallachie (I only had batch 5 and 6) and I've enjoyed the 12yo as well. Maybe I had too big expectations from this, based on the reviews here, but I can not pass the pregnant taste of raw alcohool. The 12yo was better. The 10yo is my best, a tie with glen scotia victoriana, but this one is just a very good looking one. The taste of alcohool hides everything.
Let’s get real, not only Walker knows what he’s doing in assembling a legendary whisky, this is by far one of the best ever 15 year old Scotch from Speyside with super thick coating phenomenal sherry flavours that linger on the finish forever; simply a brilliant whisky!! We don’t get this exquisite quality of cask finish coming from other mainstream distilleries.
I wanted to be impressed right from the get go, but found my inital few neat sips had rather too much of an alcohol bite, so added first a little water, then a bit more, and after 10 mins found it had improved fantastically. I watched a review somewhere, maybe ralfy, that said this whisky can take quite a bit of water and IMHO it's definately true, once it opens up it imroves in all area's, and i'm sure in years to come whwn billy walker has worked more magic on it, will do some more.
I liked this, but not as much as the sample I’d tried from MoM which prompted me to buy a bottle. It kept nearly delivering, but not quite. A bit frustrating!
