GlenAllachie

Single Malt
Batch 11 of GlenAllachie's 10 Year Old Cask Strength welcomes a shiny new design for the beloved single malt, produced under the watchful eye of master distiller Billy Walker and demonstrating the importance of his masterful cask management. This edition marries single malt matured in Pedro Ximénez, oloroso, red wine and virgin oak casks, and was bottled at a natural cask strength of 59.4% ABV.
Chocolate coffee beans, honeycomb, treacle, and cinnamon, with fluffy pancakes and butterscotch beneath.
Rich layers of cocoa and dark chocolate, cinder toffee, and dried red berries.
Toasted hazelnuts, ginger, juicy plums, Black Forest gâteau, and a touch of liquorice.
£7.03 - £74.00
Nose - spicy sweet aroma, but not real strong; Taste - wonderful sherry flavor, and after a few seconds before a long lasting spicy warmness; Finish - very long lasting but surprisingly smooth given 10 year and cask strength. Overall - fabulous! Compared to the Batch 7, it is not quite aromatic, but more importantly, it does not have the bad (sour?) aftertaste of batch 7. Great value
Wisdom has it that a splash of water added to high ABV single malts will unlock their flavours. True enough, but I plead an exception for this superb whisky. Try letting your dram "chambré", naked, in a good tumbler. Sensation awaits. The honeyed nose is so heady, you can almost hear the bees. Each sip is sensual, intense, richly flavoured. In the belly it emanates a deep warmth, but no burn. This is a remarkable drink. Wonderful is not too strong a word.
Being new to whisky and exploring the vast range of options, this was a very pleasant experience. The depth of flavour and complexity from the cask strength provides a really good drinking experience. You will not be disappointed.
Fantastic bottling of some very good stuff. Value for money is excellent and this wee gem flies under the radar of so called experts. Buy it ,you won't be disappointed.
It's rich and flavorful, great cask influence. Slight peat. You can't go wrong with this dram, simple as.
