Glen Moray 18 Year Old - Elgin Heritage

An 18 year old single from Glen Moray's Elgin Heritage range, which is all about approachable, accessible and easily enjoyable whiskies. This particular expression is drawn from first-fill American oak barrels, imparting plenty of vanilla-y tastiness...

Everything you need (if you are a whisky DRINKER and not a whisky "Connaisseur")

A lot of mixed reviews here. I have to laugh at all the people who rate this whisky with 2 out of 5. They expect probably "depth" or "complexity" , notes of cinnamon or hints of strawberry or something else. This is a classic Speysider, clean and matured as it should be. Bottled at 47,2 %, first fill , unchillfiltered and i think not coloured. It does not get any better. I am happy with Glen Moray 18 and will buy another bottle for sure

    A good glen moray

I may be bias because It's from elgin where i say, but its a good dram. Well balanced, though not as refined as others. It has the quality of a 18 but perhaps not the character, worth buying if you can land a discount on it as i did.

    Humdrum

It's a nice enough dram, and therein lies the issue. It has no real detractors, but for the age, and effort involved, it actually falls short of the fifteen year old, which I (and others) consider better. Classic Glen Moray flavour profile, but just underwhelms, and in comparison to it's contemporaries, it lacks that bang for buck you look for when buying an eighteen year old.

    4/5 for what it is

94 proof unchill filtered single malt aged 18 years for about 110 bucks and I would say it is a solid value, a bit sweet, chewy, moderate complexity, smooth finish, not my favorite but very good and the value is there at 110 bucks. Typical highland flavor profile of brown sweets which is not ideal for me personally but the bite from the lack of chill filtering and the higher proof make it enjoyable and a good value at the $110 I paid for it. Recommended but my next bottle will probably be a Talisker or a Springbank

    A cracking whisky

A cracking whisky IMO, barley sugar sweet, citrus fruit, vanilla toffee and a nice bit of spice and its strength makes it even more of a pleasure.
