A delicious 26 year old single malt from Glen Garioch, bottled as part of the Xtra Old Particular range by Douglas Laing. It was distilled in April 1991 and aged in a refill hogshead until June 2017, when it was bottled at cask strength with an outturn of 263 bottles. The XOP series received a redesign in mid-2017, including the addition of fancy glass closures. Shiny.
Banana fritters, chocolate brownie and freshly sliced green apples. Old oak furniture and a touch of tobacco.
Cigar box elements once again show up on the palate, now paired with toffee pennies and oily walnut.
Cinnamon, ginger and a layer of caramel.

Apples, fried bananas and chocolate, but: hits the back of the nose and palate with a sour note which overwhelms the nutty, oily depth. Finished with blunt spice, toffees & cigar ash!
