Glen Garioch 11 Year Old 2012 (cask 4638243) - The Octave (Duncan Taylor)
Distilled in 2012 at Glen Garioch (pronounced Geery), this single malt Scotch was treated to 11 years of maturation. Its final three months were spent in a single octave cask, to allow more rapid interaction between the wood and the whisky, resulting in gloriously rich notes of oaken vanilla, and a silky mouthfeel. In 2023, a total of 79 bottles were released by Duncan Taylor, for The Octave series.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Dry oak, tinned apricot, golden cereal, brown sugar, clove, and orchard fruit.
Palate
Vanilla cupcakes, stone fruits, caramel, honey-roasted nuts, and subtle spices.
Finish
Vanilla hum and oak spices.
