A cask strength release from Peat's Beast, this Batch Strength bottling spent nine months finishing in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks! As such, there's rich notes of dried fruit and dates among the smoky maritime notes of the Islay whisky, weighing in at a beasty 54.1% ABV.
Earthy peat smoke alongside dark jammy fruits, with baking spice and oily malt.
Medicinal, maritime peat, with date and vanilla sweetness, butterscotch and spicy black pepper.
Cooked plum lingers alongside toasty oak.
£6.46 - £68.75
Adjustment of recent review, well this isn't a 5* but it's for sure a 4* if you let it sit for a while, add 2-3ml of water to a 4cl. This is NOT a peat monster, but it's kind of an intresting whisky. The sherry overtakes the peat and I get grass, oak, dried fruits and citrus on the nose as well. The first you get on palate is sherry and smoke, it's quite dry, dried fruits and the alcohol taste might be annoying if you don't add water, don't add too much though.
I bought this for 40 euro and still I'm disappointed.. I've read good about this whisky but it was pretty weird in my opinon and the punch wasn't what you would expect of a caskstrength.. I've only had a small sample so far so I will probably come back and adjust my review.
