Edradour
Scotland
Single Malt
Edradour is one of Scotland's smallest distilleries and at the heart of the range, this 10 year old Eastern Highlander is a rather unique single malt, a decidedly rum-like dram with a thick mouthfeel. The distillery’s methods of production remain virtually unchanged in the last 150 years, and we can see why. If it ain’t broke and all that. This single malt’s decade of ageing was spent in a combination of oloroso sherry and bourbon casks.
Medium, great complexity. Thoroughly fruity, sherry, sweetness, alluring vanilla.
Cloying, seductive murkiness. Rum, barley, toasted almonds.
Spiced fruitcake with crème anglaise.
This is completely unique to anything I've tasted before. Needs a chance to breath but lovely deep and rich flavours. Fruit cake and caramel notes, dark and delicious. This tastes more like a 15 year old.
Stunning, smooth as a silk codpiece
This is the first Edradour I've tried - I love a fine malt whisky. Absolutely excellent. It was recommeneded by a whisky shop in Kelso, Scotland. He really knew his Whiskeys. Will try others. Well done.
I have only had one small bottle of Edradour, in 2004. The taste was spicy, strong, wonderful. I can tell you nothing about the nose, because my sense of smell isn't fully working. But my sense of taste told me the whiskey was a find, and I love it. I plan on getting a bottle, soon.
This whiskey simply defies it's age. It is smoother and more mellow than many twice it's age. One for the permanent collection...
