A long-awaited arrival in the UK, Eagle Rare 12 Year Old builds on the reputation of its famous younger sibling. Distilled at Buffalo Trace Distillery using the low-rye Mashbill #1, this is an ongoing release that benefits from the extra time in wood, which brings a firmer structure and a drier edge, without losing the sweetness that makes Eagle Rare such an easy bourbon to love. Familiar, yes. But noticeably more grown-up.
Sweet caramel and toasted oak lead, followed by almond, brown sugar, cocoa powder, and orange peel.
Toffee, burnt caramel, vanilla, dark cherry, and a flicker of toasted marshmallow.
Cinnamon, leather, dry spice, black pepper, vanilla and caramel.

Eagle Rare 10 = $40 MSRP. (£30). And widely available on here and Amazon for £30-35. Eagle Rare 12 = $50 MSRP (£37). Retailers in the UK are selling this bottle for £65, well above MSRP equivalent. For an extra 2 years maturation, you are paying double the price of Eagle Rare 10. It's simply not worth it, in spite of it probably being a very good pour. Sorry, folks.
