All the way from the legendary Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky, comes Eagle Rare 10 Year Old. A spectacular Kentucky straight Bourbon whiskey, matured for at least a decade before making its way into its distinctive bottles at 45% ABV. What's so distinctive about the bottles, you ask? Well, we're going to say it's the massive bald eagle, wings outstretched, looking like it's about to snatch up some dinner. Distinctive, yes? The whiskey is also pretty distinctive too, boasting full-bodied notes of cinder toffee, orange peel and buttery corn.
Toasted oak gives way to flamed orange peel and maple syrup.
Honey, buttered bread, oily walnuts and a touch of red fruit.
Vanilla, oak spice and a little bit of old leather.

I think that this has to be one of the best Bourbon's on the market - and to think that I can buy a bottle for under £40...well thats like Christmas everyday! Buffalo Trace have really done themselves proud here - and yes, their Stagg line is their higher end signature batch, but the Stagg Jr for example has completely different tasting notes. Eagle Rare is rich and dry with lovely tasting notes which work well on its own, but equally good in an Old Fashioned with Orange and Orange Bitters. In fact, it is my Bourbon of choice for both an Old Fashioned and a Manhattan when I'm not using a heavy Rye. Enjoy...and enjoy again!
I'm usually more of a scotch drinker but like to give anything a try. Ordered a sample of this and am not disappointed. Very smooth stuff. I will definitly be ordering a bottle.
I discovered this bourbon while touring the Buffalo Trace distillery. They distill a lot of great bourbons and this has become one of my favorites. It is smooth, but full of flavor. I drink it on a single ice cube and it is perfect! You won't be disappointed in this bourbon.
I drink it neat. A great whiskey doesn't need ice, or a mixer. It has an even, long finish, and a very balanced and smooth front note. It has quickly become my favorite. Frank
We don't have a lot of American whiskies sold here in Estonia, so when I saw this today in one of Tallinn's best liquor stores, I didn't think too long. Having tried all kinds of Scotch for about a year, I had longed for a good entry into bourbon world for quite a while. And I think this is as good an entry as it gets. At first it felt spicier than I had expected, but that was probably just my tongue getting used to it. The 2nd and 3rd sip were already perfectly balanced and now I'm on my 4th glass. Very smooth and easy to drink, yet you feel that it is special stuff. Nice long vanilla aftertaste. Definitely a good buy.
