Syndicate 58/6 could very easily be the name of an action thriller with a star-studded cast, but in reality it's a fantastic 12 year old blended Scotch whisky with quite a story behind it.
All the way back in 1958, a rare blend of Scotch malt and grain whiskies was found in 10 casks in a warehouse owned by William Muir Bond 9 Limited. Having been distilled in 1954 and made to a recipe that dates back to the 1800s which was enjoyed by royalty, it's safe to say it was quite a good find indeed.
In 1966, when the whisky was 12 years old, a quantity was bottled for the Directors of William Muir Bond 9 Limited and a close group of friends. A total of 6 accountants and lawyers made it possible, forming Syndicate 58/6.
The Syndicate 58/6 whisky contains 18 single malts and 4 single grains which go through a 'Solera' system and are then finished for a year in hand selected Oloroso sherry butts. The signature of Richard Paterson, the master blender behind this whisky, adorns every bottle.
Excellent whisky - rich and full bodied with a real heavy sherry impact. Really quite delicious.
Very Goood
Very smooth with most of the taste and bouquet developing after it leaves the mouth. Would have tagged it as a future buy, but its no more!
