Douglas Laing's Remarkable Regional Malts collaboration brings together Scotch whisky from across the category's various geographical regions into one tasty dram. This limited edition was finished in a combination of Port, bourbon, and sherry casks and then bottled at 50% ABV to commemorate the iconic Moon Festival, a traditional Chinese holiday. It features various Douglas Laing characters on the label, such as Big Peat and Scallywag, the dog.
The nose reveals a sweet and barley-rich character with oat biscuits and vanilla’d oak giving way to a gentle sea-salt tang.
The mouth-coating palate shows allspice and juicy nectarines with Malt and a moreish mocha style.
The finish brings wisps of peat smoke and damp earth alongside orange rind and stewed fruits.
Mighty impressed with this very special dram. Blended malts should not be snubbed. The overall depth of complexity flavour and general character is excellent.
