Douglas Laing
Scotland
Big Peat has got his Christmas jumper on once again, which can only mean one thing - it's time for another edition of Big Peat at Christmas! For 2017, Douglas Laing have blended seven different Islay single malts (including whisky from the revered Port Ellen) together and bottled it up at cask strength. A fantastic winter warmer.
Roasted peanuts, sea breeze, hints of spearmint and tarry ropes.
Campfire embers with toasted marshmallows and milk chocolate. Subtly oak at points.
Oily malt, pine nuts and a lingering earthy quality.

Please find a way to ship to the US ! This Scot needs her yearly whiskey ! Big Peat at Christmas is deep, and peaty. It reminds my of a Highland winter.
Young and striking on the nose. sharp on the tongue first 3-4 sips. then it settles..... or your mouth gets numb enough. take your pick. best part is finish. something to smack your tongue and lick your lips. the finish is better than some really good 10-12's. smoky? yeah, but with a slightly unpleasant hit. have i regretted buying 2 bottles based on this very sites reviews that i googled in store? nah.
I’d bought quite a few bottles since coming back, after visiting in December. I did a cask tasting at Caol Ila and I ended up taking away most of it, (it was a mix of young bourbon cask and up to 29 sherry cask) the cups leaked in the little boxes and my kitchen on Islay smelled exactly like this whisky. I can’t seperate our the memory from my review.
Fantastic ? buy now???
Nose of thick peat and cream, heavy perfectly balanced smoke, vibrant finish, very impressive.
