Indie Deanston (Indeanston, if you will) here from the Old Malt Cask range, bottled by Hunter Laing. It was aged in a refill hogshead for 25 years, from January 1996 to May 2021, before eventually being bottled up at 50% ABV. Just 216 bottles were produced.
Caramel, custard, a little whiff of oaky smoke, lingerings of orange oil.
Citrus remains on the palate, now with nutty hints of marzipan and cherry.
Dry smoke again, softened by buttery vanilla.

Reminded me a lot of a tasting i did on a range of new young whiskies from new distilleries recently (Bimber American oak/Kingsbarns/Glasgow distillery) hard to believe this has spent 25 years in cask, guess it is a much used refill? Lots of fresh vanillin oak and custard powder along with orange fondant. A sort of liquid Mr kipling french fancy which is nice enough but not sure i would pay £150 for this when you can pick up any of the trio above for much less and delivers much the same flavour profile.
