A 2015 addition to the Deanston range, this expression has been matured for 18 years, including a finishing period in first-fill Kentucky bourbon casks. It was bottled without chill filtration at 46.3% ABV. Oodles of rich honey, luxurious vanilla, sugary shortbread and a touch of fresh ginger.
Enjoyable earthy vanilla up front, paired with Golden Grahams, honeydew melon and flint.
Lemon cheesecake and orange boiled sweets, shortly followed by stem ginger and beeswax.
Oily walnut and barley.
I had the opportunity to taste it at the source. Amazing! Smooth and delicious. The fact that they don’t cold filter out all the flavor lends to the complexity.
Wow this is so amazing stuff. I got turned on to this hidden gem from a friendly informant who happens to live in Scotland. I have my spies in the field:) I am not going to post my notes as I still need to finish my notes and post a video on my YouTube channel...but there is so much honey, vanilla, teddy graham crackers, and gingersnap cookies with icing sugar. Please don't buy this so there is more for me:)
Enjoyed this at a tasting last night. Incredible flavors from start to finish. Price is right as well!
One of the best drams I've had..after over ten years of tasting everything I can get my hands on...this is very special....I added about 5 drops to it...resting it covered for about twenty minutes...distracted easily by Boston legal reruns...a show always featuring scotch drinking...the long finish....bitter sweet chocolate notes ..something wonderful anyway...balanced ....just delicious when u get it right....wow....
I found Deanston about three years ago, lovely place and an old cotton mill converted to a distillery. There is a little cafe and we stopped for a coffee that in itself was excellent,,the food too............ However, this is about Malt, got to say I am a Speyside fan, and don't like much peat. Can't think of many that I haven't tried so I can compare with those, had all the offerings of Deanston now and it has to be one of my top 10, so very smooth full of flavour and if you are able to get an 18 years I is truly wonderful, be cautious with the Toasted Oak though, very strong with powerful flavour, similar to Aberlour A'bundha but stronger!!!
