A 2015 addition to the Deanston range, this expression has been matured for 18 years, including a finishing period in first-fill Kentucky bourbon casks. It was bottled without chill filtration at 46.3% ABV. Oodles of rich honey, luxurious vanilla, sugary shortbread and a touch of fresh ginger.
Enjoyable earthy vanilla up front, paired with Golden Grahams, honeydew melon and flint.
Lemon cheesecake and orange boiled sweets, shortly followed by stem ginger and beeswax.
Oily walnut and barley.
One of the great non sherried whiskies, filled with honey, vanilla and butter shortbread. Great price for a top quality whisky. Nice oily mouthfeel and medium finish leaving you wanting more. Deanston have a lot of good uns, this is the best. struth

Opened this for the first time last week and, initially, was a little disappointed that seemed to be a bit harsh for an 18 year old. I experimented a bit with water to find a smoother finish. At that point, I think I preferred the much cheaper Virgin Oak. However, tried some again last evening and it was like a different dram - full of fruit, vanilla and spice. Lovely. Now looking forward to my next drop.
A careful drop of water and the nose becomes gentler and floral. Older whisky so Im careful not to drown it. Cask heavy complex flavors, wonderful, delicious. Mouthfeel is superb. The strength is high enough to carry the whiskey beautifully. If you like gentler non peated whiskies this is great quality whisky and wonderful
