A 25 year old Dalwhinnie from Diageo's 2015 Special Releases, the first time a bottling from this distillery featured since 2012 (also a 25 year old). Matured in refill American oak hogsheads, this is a release of 5,916 bottles.
Quite floral and light, grass and subtle pear flesh.
Dried grass, Weetabix, oak and subtle orchard fruit.
Crisp with a little more cereal.
Classic Dalwhinnie aged for quarter of a century.

It's great. Actually a decent value for the age versus other similar quality scotches. Very floral nose, raw pear and hint of oak. Palate of green apple and earth.

I tried this one against the Dalwhinnie 25Y/O 1987-2012 bottling. I was afraid it wouldn't be that good, because it has less power (alcohol). But men o men, I was wrong. It has it all, the beautiful fine structure I appreciate in a good Dalwhinnie, with lingering tastes of vanilla, herbs and beautiful sweetness..and power! With distant the best of the two.
