The 1997 vintage of Daliwinnie's Distillers Edition, which has been finished in Oloroso sherry casks, as always. Get ready for some thick, jammy whisky, folks!
Honeyed malt, soft sherry notes and a polite smokiness.
Crushed up almonds dusted with sugar and oak spices. This is followed by dark berry jam, with a side of dark berry jam, smothered in even more sweet, succulent jam.
Some peat sneaks in for the finish.

First tasting was disappointing and a little bitter on the tongue. Amazing the difference a drop of water makes. It really opened up the flavours and turned this into a very nice dram.
Contrary to the yuk comment below/above I think this issuper smooth. Regularly drink the 15yr old but this is the best!
