Hunter Laing
Scotland
Single Malt
Part of Hunter Laing's Old Malt Cask range, which the company continued after splitting from Douglas Laing, this 16 year old Dalmore earns its place next to the other fantastic single cask bottlings within the series.
Bottled in May 2013, it was distilled in October 1996, and matured in a refill hogshead (cask 9816). 371 bottles of brilliant Highland whisky are the result.
This is a hot whisky and needs some water to settle down. For 16 years I expected a little more refinement but it just seems young and harsh. Their are decent fruits notes, most notably oranges and a bit of chocolate (Jaffa Cakes). However, it remains a tad harsh.
