Founded in 2011, Pennsylvania's Dad's Hat distillery focuses on creating old-school Pennsylvania-style rye. Following a mash bill of 80% rye and 20% malt (15% barley and 5% rye malt), grains are sourced from local farms and fermented slow and low for an aromatic, complex character. This six-year-old rye whiskey joins the USA Series from That Boutique-y Whisky Company, bottled at a hearty cask strength of 64% ABV.
Batch 1 is a release of 289 bottles.
That Boutique-y Whisky Company bottles limited edition whiskies from a variety of renowned distilleries as well as producing award-winning blends. These whiskies are adorned with cultish graphic novel-style labels.
Heaps of dried berries and stone fruits balance dense notes of spicy rye and sourdough crackers. Milk chocolate and charred herbs join waves of warming allspice.
Soft and buttery to start, with dried cranberries and cherry chocolate leading to satisfying layers of oak char, clove, and cinnamon snaps.
