Cutty Sark
Scotland
Blended
A very popular blend, particularly on the American market, started by Berry Bros & Rudd and named for the tea clipper Cutty Sark, said to be the fastest of its time.
Light, gentle. Cut herbs, floral, custard, hay.
Rounded, mixed peels, lots of barley.
Good length, warming, malt.
Excellent
Like grants good inexpensive blend for the price in the 1960's family bought cutty sark they were out of Grants, Cutty Sark was on sale for 15'99 same as grants Bought a bottle first small snifter was harsh tasted more alcohol like grain you can smell the alcohol a harsh drink smoky notes will look for grants better for the price.
Love it! On the rocks or with soda it's brilliant. The label is great brings back memories of my days on the open sea!
Price point: Great. Flavor profile: On the intake, a numbing bite on the tongue tip - light and malty. Finish is warming with a lingering bitter smoke. Recommendation: I would not mix this. On ice, the flavor dies considerably, but alters the finish from warming to smooth. Personally I prefer this neat and would say that I could use this as a daily nightcap for a few weeks. A solid, if unremarkable whiskey. Thumbs up if you like a hint of smoke.
This is a scotch you’d give to a guy at a house party who asks for scotch
