We looked to the USA for this addition to our exclusive Master of Malt collection, a straight rye whiskey from Coppersea distillery in Hudson Valley, New York! The team at Coppersea specialises in heritage production methods, such as growing their own grain and floor malting it in-house. Distilled from 100% malted rye, and matured for three years, a release of 120 bottles.

Chocolate-coated cinder toffee, damp hay, and robust rye open the way, joined by trickles of caramel. Then there are zesty notes of orange marmalade alongside softly woody spices, a touch of anise, buttered pumpernickel, and mellow oak.
Sweet toffee quickly gives way to charred oak, warming rye spice, and toasty cereal (think puffed rice bar snacks). Things mellow with sweet notes of wild strawberries and honeyed pastries.
Hints of dried herbs and wood chips, ginger and nutmeg warmth coupled with burnt butter, blackcurrant cordial, rum and raisin fudge, sourdough crackers, and malt loaf with honey.
