Arguably the most important peated Irish whiskey, Connemara was the first in the modern era of renaissance to remind folks that Irish whiskey can be smoky. In fact, it often was, and Connemara Peated Whiskey is inspired by the whiskies that would have been made over the centuries in Ireland in areas like the one that gives the expression its name. Turf (as the Irish often call peat) was what was available to the early whiskey makers, so prior to the 20th century, peated whiskey was commonplace in Ireland. Connemara whiskey is produced at the famous Cooley Distillery and has a distinct but still delicate smokiness, balanced by a smooth texture and sweet taste. This profile has been highly decorated, receiving over 20 medals from major spirits competitions since 2012.
Well-smoked and peated, heather freshness and floral notes with a honeyed sweetness and a little wood.
Full and smooth with notes of malt and peat, honeyed smoke and barley sweetness.
Long and pungent with honey and peat smoke.

having tried numerous variations of smoky Scottish whisky I decided to give this Irish peated whiskey a go. The result that I'm very disappointed I should have had a sample before buying a full bottle.
I must say that I like this whiskey. It is always the same tasting a new bottle after a while it's decided and Connemara has simply passed.
It starts with a flavor that reminds me of olives. And it does finish on the bitter side, which I find can be remedied with a dilution. Not much in the way of nosing.... seems to have a relatively weak aroma. But still enjoyable to drink, as long as you're not expecting liquid gold!
I hear the Angels singing! Best drink I ever had.
My son gave me this for Father's Day and together we have enjoyed the silky smoothness of this Whiskey. We couldn't find anything to complain about. If you are looking for something special we would highly recommend you try this. One review likened it to the taste of coal! If coal taste like that I will buy a sack immediately!!
