    Product details

    Colonel EH Taylor Small Batch

This small batch bourbon is named after Colonel Edmund Haynes Taylor, an incredibly important figure in bourbon's history from the 1800s who owned a whole host of distilleries and innovated production methods which are still used today. It's only right that the Colonel EH Taylor Small Batch lives up to his name by being absolutely amazing.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Caramel apples, fresh corn and cloves. Butterscotch sneaks in after a while.

    Palate

More corn sweetness, mixed with slight spiciness of rye and cinnamon.

    Finish

Medium and very rich with creamy vanilla.

    Overall

A really great small batch bourbon.

“If you're in the UK, and can't get this for US prices, I'd have to say that this is a great example of what Buffalo Trace can do. Great oak notes from the cask. Sweet and full of flavor. I have to say this is the bottle that made me fall in love with bourbon. For all the hype of the Van Winkle line, there is something special in this bottle as well. If you can get your hands on the Barrel Proof, it's also a gem. Either way, you get what you pay for here. At 50% ABV, it's a true expression of what Kentucky offers to the world!”

Reviews for Colonel EH Taylor Small Batch

    A Nice Find

I've tried a number of related whiskeys and when I saw this at Costco for $31.99 (and Eagle Rare at same price) I decided to give it a whirl. Comparing the two, EH has a little less cinnamon an heat, and a little more butter, IMHO. Been trying a number of others (1792, Larceny, etc.) and it will be nice to include this one in the rotation. Not sure it's above Weller 12 (which I found a bottle of recently) but it's in the ballpark. BTW, Costco also had 1.75 liter of Weller Special Reserve for $35.00 (maybe even a little less), so don't forget to look there if you have one nearby.

    My new go to bourbon!

Picked up 4 bottles for $33.00 each. I felt like I just won the lottery! Great small batch bourbon. Has depth, even over ice.

Worth a try at the right price

Depends what you pay. 45-60$ is fair. The nose is B+, The mouthfeel is A- for something that is in a sub 100$ range which is special. The finish is long but dry. Depends what you are looking for. Those that say it is just a tad below the single barrel are way off in my opinion. I avoided this bourbon when it first came out because the rest of the E. H Taylors were so special. As bourbon gets more and more nuts I find myself buying a bottle here and there. Ultimately, if you haven't had it and can get a bottle for under 55$ I would try it. I've had a lot of trash for well above that price.

Depends on what you're willing to pay.

Bought a bottle in Corning N.Y. for $48.00 and change + tax. Wonderful bourbon but at $101.00? There are many very good options for less... like the same bourbon for $48.00 + tax. Been drinking bourbon for about 40 years and it seems to be going the way of wine. Many "experts" parroting what the "experts" say. If you can get a bottle for what I paid... go for it. you will not be disappointed.
