A 9 year old blended whisky from Chugoku Jozo's interesting Togouchi range. The producers create their expressions with whisky from both Scotland and Canada, and age it in a railway tunnel in Japan (which is a nice change of scenery for those cask - certainly very different from your run-of-the-mill warehouse!).
Sweet apricot and plum notes, with a dusting of baking spices.
Lemon and orange peel notes develop, with a pinch of peat smoke underneath.
Anise, cardamom and caramel.
Tasty enough but nothing to shout about. Quite bland and definitely not worth the price. Smooth, slight hint of smoke. Maybe 3.5 is unfair, but it's expensive for what it is.
Supremely smooth , just open the bottle pour into a crystal tumbler, leave for about a minute to allow the liquor to realease the flavor stored for nine years. Take a sip and let it gently slide over your pallet as enjoy its smoothness and soft” after glow” . Then for me add a little water and really sit down and enjoy the whole experience
