Chivas Regal 25 year old is a showstopper of a blend, a serial award winner that always delivers. It's crafted from a mighty blend of malt and grain whiskies which have been matured in specially-selected casks for at least a quarter of a century.
Rich, nutty and thick with notes of malt and berry fruits, hints of liquorice, raspberries and sweet porridge oats.
Soft and gentle but it builds with an elegant toffee-like character, very butter. Hints of boiled sweets, aniseed and custard.
Abrupt, but earthy, with butterscotch on the tail.

That’s nice and fantastic test .I really want that again
Initial aroma in snifter is a touch of Licorice (big no no with me) or a dark dark cherry-ish flavor and leather. But a taste and that becomes smoky (peaty). This was probably in a barrel with charred insides at some point. Then smooth. Not as smooth as the best, but very smooth. Bit of singed leather aroma hangs in the snifter (o.k. I live in Texas...). Number of other subtle flavors that I cannot discern, but none too distinct. Makes me think of Jamie Wyeth's 1965 painting, "The Draft Age." A little too burnt, dark, and leathery for me to give it five stars. So the sorting hat says four stars.

Having tried a whole range of whisky and whiskey, I must say I have no idea how Mr. Colin Scott managed to create this masterpiece. At the heart is strathisla malt, but the other malts or grains were used here remain a mystery. I can only imagine it is around 70/80% malted whisky and 20/30% cereal grains due to the superb quality. Last but not least, this is the only expression I have had which has spawned from what can only be described as PERFECT cask selection. For a 25 year old, it is flawlessly balanced and zero bitterness/tannins. A feat of sheer genius and skill. I rate this 10 stars if I could. There is only one problem: not enough of it....
