Cardhu Gold Reserve is a whisky that's as smooth and golden as its namesake. Cardhu Gold Reserve is a blend of Speyside and Highland single malt whiskies, each aged for at least 12 years. The result is a complex yet well-balanced whisky with notes of honey, vanilla, and citrus. Cardhu Gold Reserve is the perfect choice for those looking for a sophisticated yet approachable whisky.
Cardhu is the latest Diageo distillery to have a little core range shake up with the launch of a no age statement single malt (or two). Created using hand-picked toasted oak casks, Cardhu Gold Reserve offers something different to the classic 12 year old with a fruitier nose and a dry, warming palate.
Honeyed tinned stone fruits, toffees and a hint of strawberry with red apple and ginger coming through with a little water.
Fairly dry with biscuity oak and a little cinnamon as well as some development of those toffee and apple notes.
Gentle oak and (milk chocolate) caramel digestives.
Described as a "generous" whisky, it's a description that matches both the nose and its general easy-drinking nature.
Even at the full price it's a most wonderful whisky - it outclasses other more expensive single malt Why on earth do they feel the need for a discount, mind you I am not complaining at the lower price it's always buy one and get the second one free -no damage to the depth of the pocket Every time I drink it I feel it's a special occasion not to missed
It may be my palate but no way is this a forty pound bottle of malt. It's bland, uninspiring and I thought slightly rough around the edges. There's a tiny hint of smoke at the end of the finish but otherwise I'd take Aldi's Speyside over this any day of the week.
To sweet for me.but each to there own.sweetness eased slightly with a dash of room temperature water.bought at Morrisons because it was reduced £42 to £26.glad I didn’t pay full price.no real bite or aftertaste,I felt I was waiting for something that does not arrive.
Just picked this up from Morrisons for £25 an wow what a bargain. I think I have tried most of what Morrisons / Tesco's sell (tho I am an Aldi Highland / Speyside drinker as that bloody good for the price when your drinking a bottle a week). This stuff tho is like drinking warm, soft butter. Sweet, no peat and totally scrumptious. So much so I am going to buy another tomorrow on the way to work to have as back up for a long bank holiday weekend.
Decent whisky but nowhere near 4.5 stars reviews suggest. Pleasant oil feel but a bit too much citrus peel bitterness. Slight petrol smell with some vague hint of caramel.
