Cardhu Gold Reserve is a whisky that's as smooth and golden as its namesake. Cardhu Gold Reserve is a blend of Speyside and Highland single malt whiskies, each aged for at least 12 years. The result is a complex yet well-balanced whisky with notes of honey, vanilla, and citrus. Cardhu Gold Reserve is the perfect choice for those looking for a sophisticated yet approachable whisky.
Cardhu is the latest Diageo distillery to have a little core range shake up with the launch of a no age statement single malt (or two). Created using hand-picked toasted oak casks, Cardhu Gold Reserve offers something different to the classic 12 year old with a fruitier nose and a dry, warming palate.
Honeyed tinned stone fruits, toffees and a hint of strawberry with red apple and ginger coming through with a little water.
Fairly dry with biscuity oak and a little cinnamon as well as some development of those toffee and apple notes.
Gentle oak and (milk chocolate) caramel digestives.
Described as a "generous" whisky, it's a description that matches both the nose and its general easy-drinking nature.

New to the whole whisky business and very much enjoying peaty whiskies but this was on offer at £25 a bottle so gave it a go. It's really lovely and true to the toffee rich dram its billed as. Really nice with a square of dark chocolate. Will always have a bottle now when I fancy something less smokey. Recommended.
A simple whisky easily drunk without ice or water. Just simply warm in the hand to release the delicate sweetness and lasting after taste.
If you think you don't like whisky then this malt will change your mind.
It's... For me and it's always a personal thing but it's one of the finest whisky I've tasted and tried over a long period of tasting and attempting to understand the finer point's of whiskey drinking it's it a lovely smooth scotch with a very thorough distinctive flavor definitely worth a punt
As a whisky novice, I found this NAS single malt very unexciting and unmemorable. However it is quite drinkable with nothing particularly offensive about it (I'm thinking of the Dalwhinnie Winter Gold which has a more complex flavour but a horrible aspartame like after taste) It has inspired me to delve deeper though and find something more to my liking. The bottle has hung around long after I have got through plenty of other more enjoyable blends and single malts. However on returning to polish of the last drop I decided to drop a Luxardo Cherry, in a moment of madness /inspiration and I must say that it helped bring out the finer points of the Cardhu immeasurably (yes I do err towards the sweet side), to the extent that if it was on special again I would consider purchasing another bottle (to give to 3* friends when they visit:-) )
