    Single Malt

    Cardhu Gold Reserve

Cardhu Gold Reserve is a whisky that's as smooth and golden as its namesake. Cardhu Gold Reserve is a blend of Speyside and Highland single malt whiskies, each aged for at least 12 years. The result is a complex yet well-balanced whisky with notes of honey, vanilla, and citrus. Cardhu Gold Reserve is the perfect choice for those looking for a sophisticated yet approachable whisky.

Cardhu is the latest Diageo distillery to have a little core range shake up with the launch of a no age statement single malt (or two). Created using hand-picked toasted oak casks, Cardhu Gold Reserve offers something different to the classic 12 year old with a fruitier nose and a dry, warming palate.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Honeyed tinned stone fruits, toffees and a hint of strawberry with red apple and ginger coming through with a little water.

    Palate

Fairly dry with biscuity oak and a little cinnamon as well as some development of those toffee and apple notes.

    Finish

Gentle oak and (milk chocolate) caramel digestives.

    Overall

Described as a "generous" whisky, it's a description that matches both the nose and its general easy-drinking nature.

    DECENT

.. quite nice ... bought it at half price and certainly wouldn't pay full price for this .. prefer others in that price bracket . I think its just not my type of whisky .. although I'm enjoying it and can see why others would like it .

    Good at the right price

Very smooth and easy drinking as a mixer, found it quite harsh straight, i bought it at £25 which is the right price point, wouldn't buy it at the £40 that it usually is

Glad I took up the whisky journey

Absolutely fine whisky. I’m a novice but this was a beautiful start to my adventure. I’m going to get the 12 year old now to compare.

    Tim Boland Nov 13, 2020

It'll get you drunk at least.

Harsh, insipid and clearly not much more than the required 3 years old.
