Cardhu's Amber Rock single malt Scotch whisky is double matured in toasted American oak casks, resulting in a full bodied whisky, packed with vanilla, citrus and oak-y notes. The is inspired in part by the colour of the whisky, as well as the Gaelic meaning of Cardhu - 'Black Rock'.
Cinnamon-dusted apple slices, a good drizzle of honey and a hint of orange zest. Then there's the vanilla biscuits. Oh, so many vanilla biscuits!
Lemons, sticky caramel, vanilla essence and oak spice, lovingly drizzled with honey.
Subtle bitter orange and oak-y on the finish.
This speyside whisky is one for all. Great smooth taste no peat or smoke, for those who like a gentle warmth this is the one. Even if you think you don't like whisky this will change your mind. And the square bottle makes it harder to spill if you've enjoyed a bit too much in one sitting (as this is a tad moreish)
Compare to the Gold Reserve more body in this, more aromatic. I usually prefer cherry cask whisky but this is a pleasant drink. Slightly spicy, sweet with nice finish. Nice job.
I knew a guy who drunk this. He thought he was Brian cox
