Cameronbridge 25 Year Old 1991 (cask 11644) - Old Particular (Douglas Laing)

Cameronbridge 25 Year Old 1991 (cask 11644) is a single grain Scotch whisky from the largest grain distillery in Europe, Cameronbridge distillery. This beauty was bottled by Douglas Laing for its Old Particular range, having spent 25 years ageing from October 1991 until March 2017. With no chill-filtration and natural colour, cask 11644 carries all the class and character you'd expect from this established collaboration. 534 bottles were produced.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Teaming with vanilla and smatterings of apple crumble. Subtle oak wonderfully fills the backdrop.

    Palate

Pinches of cinnamon spice round a buttery toffee and vanilla blend.

    Finish

Spice makes way for sweet praline and touches of honey. Toasty oak pushes through from a medium length finish.

    Very enjoyable

Really enjoyed this whisky, would highly recommend!

    A bit of a dissappointment.

So the tasting notes by the Chaps at Masters of Malt is the reason I decided to finally, After 30+ years of drinking single malts, that I tried this libation. The nose would be more aptly described as Isopropyl rubbing alcohol. So that was a bit of a let down. The palate is MUCH better than the nose, though it is quite shallow and devoid of any real complexity. The Vanilla and cinnamon is there, but you have to reach for it. The finish is NOT medium, it is short and the honey is there, but this is, overall, a very plain dram.
