From the lost Caledonian Distillery in Edinburgh, this 1982 vintage Lowland single grain Scotch whisky was housed in a single refill hogshead cask for a whole 35 years before Hunter Laing & Co. bottled it at 46.9% ABV in October 2017 for the superb Sovereign series.
154 bottles of natural colour and without chill-filtration have been released, so if you want a taste of a prime example of a Caledonian single grain while you still can - don't hesitate.
Dried apricots and pecan pie, with notes of buttery brioche, runny honey and pine resin.
Roasted peanuts and tangy orange peel rise, before creamy fudge, banana bread and vanilla custard reveal. Depth comes with a kick of cumin powder and spicy oak.
Sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch sauce, barley sugar and maple spices.
