Amped up with another ampersand and a generous few notches on the ABV, it's a cask strength edition of Butterscotch & Vanilla & Toast & A Generation 30 Year Old Whisky! This 30-year-old blended grain Scotch whisky is brimming with notes of toasted sugar and vanilla biscuits, resting upon dense layers of chewy old oak and bolstered by hearty spice thanks to its impressive 58.2% ABV.
Heady layers of floral honey and bubbling caramel, burnt sugar, and in turn, candy floss and toasted vanilla marshmallows. There's buttery pastry too, before dense old oak and dried floral tea arrive. You can definitely pick up that cask strength too.
A wave of silky butterscotch coats the palate, soon joined by woody spice and oak char tickling at the sides. Vanilla biscuits and syrupy flapjack follow, with candied ginger and nutmeg supporting all the while.
Crème caramel lingers, with burnt sugar, a touch of orange zest, cookie crumbs, and mellow, chewy old oak. Peppery spice hangs around too, though it's kept in check by the treacly sweetness of it all.
Had the none cask strength, and preferred it over this, got a sharpness and lack of integration of the alcohol. Its got some nice flavors, but the sharpness doesn't work for me. Age is just a number, had better four year olds. Needs a lot of air.
Unusual scotch with a panoply of concurrent flavours, from dulce de leche to blueberry syrup , yet coheres on the mouth to satisfy. It doesn't have the unique personality of a single malt, but it's incredibly eager to please. Ridiculous value that will disappoint nobody.
Absolutely love this. I took a punt on it as part of a few nice bottles as a birthday treat. It does pretty much what it says on the label. Real mouth filling and long lingering flavour. Can't drink it quickly either as it's sooooo rich - a plus for me since it's definitely one to savour! I'll be buying another for sure!
Let me start by saying this is a great whisky, full of all the flavours suggested on the label. As it’s cask strength, and it’s a grain whisky, it’s really strong but a reasonable addition of water ( a bit more than two pinkie drips!) opens it up and the notes flow. I recommend you give this a go!! Slainte
