Love yourself some well-matured grain whisky and maybe too many ampersands? OK, perhaps it's more likely that the number of ampersands in a whisky's name doesn't really matter to you one way or the other. Never-the-less, if you're a grain whisky fan, Butterscotch & Vanilla & Toast & A Generation will be very appealing to you indeed! This expression is a 30 year old blended grain Scotch whisky, offering up notes of... Well, the name hits the main themes (it's sort of like it's trying to do my job, and I'm not 100% sure how I feel about that), and there's lots more deliciousness where that came from too. Tuck in!
Honeycomb, red grapes, immensely buttery, Golden Grahams, a smidge of waxy orange peel, polished oak, and a touch of floral spring breeze.
Thick with rich butterscotch, freshly baked cookies dotted with chocolate chunks, slightly peppery at points with a dry hint of toasted cedar.
Waxy peels from the nose return, with layers of vanilla, cinnamon, gingerbread, and treacle for company.
One of the best I’ve had
Lovely smooth with lots of flavour. The tasting notes are too complex. After all, if I put rich butterscotch, freshly baked cookies dotted with chocolate chunks, pepper, with a dry hint of toasted cedar into a glass, then added vanilla, cinnamon, gingerbread, and treacle all together it would not taste nice at all. To me, it has a honey sweetness that is not sugar sweet, but still has the flavour. The toast flavour also comes through. It is smooth, and warm, with no harsh burning sensations which spoil (for me) some other whiskies. Basically, a lovely easy to drink whisky which does seem to reflect its 30 year age and the name given to it.
My son bought me this whisky for Father's Day as he understands my tastes. The presentation surprised me for a product such as this. But not judging a whisky by it's label I uncorked it, wafted the bottle under my nares and the pleasure began. This experience was followed by considered tasting quickly followed by more of the same. As usual my son hit the target in procuring a fascinating, eminently drinkable and highly pleasurable whisky.
Hi, After receiving an email late 23rd Dec 2021, I thought I'd treat myself for Christmas and ordered this seeing as they were giving next-day delivery and it was already about 7pm the day before Christmas eve. With all credit to Master of Malt, the delivery arrived Christmas eve as promised ( you can't get better service than that! ) I waited untill about 7pm Christmas day when all the hustle and bustle had ended, and cracked my Christmas treat to myself. Now although it's a nice easy 30 year old to drink, and at a fraction of other 30 year olds, I must say that I believe I can get something as good for half the price, but that's only my own personal opinion. I've no doubts that to others it will be the dogs dangles! After all I've only been into whisky for the last 5 years or so. One thing I can say though is that I've always had the best service from these guys at the Master of Malt. All the best guys Richard .
Tastes like very good bourbon, thin though.
