Bunnahabhain's Stiùireadair single malt pays homage to the distillery's shoreline on the north-east coast of Islay. They used whisky matured in first and second fill Sherry casks, with a leaning towards deliciously coastal malt.
Brine, toasted sugar and caramel-drizzled raisins.
Honey-roasted nuts, cinnamon and clove, with a touch of salt sea too.
Sherried peels and chilli-chocolate.

I really enjoyed this dram. I'm the sort of fellow who loves smokey Islay malts, but this one hits the spot.
From nose to finish this bunna is not right for me. The palate is a mishmash of young spirit, peppery notes throughout. Some sherry and brine. Caramel and savoury notes. No balance. Finish is almost nonexistent. Far far inferior to the 12 and the toiteach dda. 75pts
Yes really liked this malt. Thought the tastes coming through were excellent. Love Bunnahabhain malts.
interestingly i tried this a while back from a new bottle; my first of this Stiùireadair, or helmsman. I have to say I wasn't impressed and put the bottle back on shelf, vowing to give it to someone. It wasnt bad, just lacked cohesion. Anyway having retried, I have to admit I was wrong. Its a very nice dram; maybe the air in bottle helped, or maybe it was me, but now nose was full of dried fruit and mouth with again fruit and cinnamon etc. on retry i will give it 4, and to anyone who didnt like it before, try it again folks. struth
Argh ! No way. The saddest scotch malt I've ever tasted, need to find something to mix this with just finish the bottle. Aldi sell a cheap islay that puts this to shame.
