Bunnahabhain's Stiùireadair single malt pays homage to the distillery's shoreline on the north-east coast of Islay. They used whisky matured in first and second fill Sherry casks, with a leaning towards deliciously coastal malt.
Brine, toasted sugar and caramel-drizzled raisins.
Honey-roasted nuts, cinnamon and clove, with a touch of salt sea too.
Sherried peels and chilli-chocolate.

Very nice sherry flavours
I like to each whisky to have tune of its own and be able to whistle it. Previous encounters with Bunna have been very smooth but lacking in personality (I blame the humungous stills). This ones briny rather than peaty and actually tastes like the coastal malt it is.
Its so entertaining to read the reviews of a whisky which splits opinion and one of the beauties of being a drinker of such an enigmatic product. Everyone is right and wrong simultaneously and there should be no stigma attached to either camp. Some wording could be better chosen i suppose. I like this whisky, the hefty abv helps and it takes to a few drops of water very well. From Islay but uniquely not of the Islay script. Makes we want to explore more of the distillery range. Pour me another please!
Subtle flavours combine to a delicious taste
Very nice. Easy to drink. Light, breezy, hint of sea air.
