Has there ever been a moment when you've been sipping Bulleit Bourbon and wanted it to have even more rye? Well you're in luck, they now have their own Rye whiskey! Bulleit Rye is made with a mashbill of 95% rye and 5% malted barley and is produced in small batches. An absolutely stunning rye that won a Double Gold medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2013.
Big heaps of cherries and vanilla, with subtle notes of leather and tobacco.
Rather hot at first, the spices coming to the forefront. This is followed by peaches, more cherries and a little bit of orange zest.
A smoky finish, carried by cinnamon, allspice and a hint of sweeties.
The Bulleit distillery sure know their way around a rye whiskey.
I picked this up for Chrismtas and it did not disappoint. My first impression was a kick of heat then a smooth, smoky finish. Delicious!
I figured the high rye content this would be very spicy or hot but it isn't. This is a surprisingly smooth drink, smoother than Bulleit Bourbon. The nose smells like cherries and something else that I can't put my finger on. I taste peaches and oak, its a damned fine rye! I'm kicking myslef for not trying it sooner.
This is a real bargain for what is a nicely smooth rye whiskey. Sweet and spicy with nice fruity notes at the back. Upfront cherry and dunnage is very refreshing and familiar. I happily sip this whiskey neat and that's unusual for a sub £50 American whiskey.
I love it! My favorite! Smooth and delicious!
Decent 'bar' rye. An excellent MGP Rye. Would be better at 100 proof though, but good value for money.
